Training
Training activities are designed to support students, postdoctoral fellows, and other early career researchers (ECRs) in obtaining the skills required to pursue research careers. Training activities include but are not limited to:
- Research assistantships: Individuals may work in project teams where they contribute to the achievement of the teams' research objectives, while their work also contributes to their thesis or dissertation. They also participate in mobilization activities, and their contribution is recognized.
- Summer school: The first Circumpolar Arctic Summer School on Economy and Society (CASES) took place in Yellowknife, Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk in June 2023. CASES will also be held in 2024 and 2025. It brings together 8-12 students and 3-4 mentors who travel to different locations in the North.
- Participation in WAGE events: Students, postdocs and ECRs involved in WAGE projects can attend various events, such as the WAGE Roundtable Series. They are invited to attend and participate in the annual science meeting where they can share their work, gain valuable feedback, and network with other WAGE members.
Based on these activities, each student member will acquire research skills in relevant disciplines, in an environment that values both scientific excellence and citizen involvement, dialogue between different forms of knowledge, and the use of knowledge to improve social conditions.
